Nitida and Mont Marie Outing

Our July outing was a trip to Nitida wine farm for our Members. A typical Porsche Sunday run starts with the meeting point, waking up early on a Sunday morning, getting your best sports gear on and ensuring your car has a full tank of fuel. Then its great food, beautiful cars and gorgeous venues. So to come back to the trip, we all met at the Engen fuel station on the N7 at 10am Sunday morning, everyone’s car looking as if they have just driven off the showroom floor when they arrived at the meeting point. One by one everyone arrived making a little noise as they parked in row as if they were getting ready for a Porsche and GT race day.

Instructions were given of the route we should take and off we went. The route was to take the N7 to Malmesbury and to enter Malmesbury town, down the R302, then left onto M58, cut through Durbanville past Meerendale wine farm and onto Contermanskloof Rd (aka known as Porsche center test track for when you buy a new car) and onto Nitida wine farm tables restaurant, making it a nice 100km of excellent driving and amazing corners passing amazing scenery (which the front runners never see) and especially Contermanskloof corners. Simple, right? I mean who can get lost following those directions. Well let me tell you someone who will remain anonymous (hey Jane) took a couple of members along a scenic trip towards Darling instead… no more to be said! But in the end the members feedback was good and enjoyed the fast run to Nitida wine farm.

The lunch at Nitida “Tables” was amazing. We started with a cheese and meat board as we arrived of course with a couple of wine bottles. The food was fantastic, and then came the best of all and the star of the day, “CAKE”. Not just any cake but huge Lemon meringue cakes , chocolate cake for a king and a peppermint crisp cake - have a look at the pictures!

Our August run was to Mont Marie in Stellenbosch. The run was a fabulous one, through the Paarl tunnel, then doubling back to the alternate scenic route towards to Paarl, and taking the sweeping roads through to Stellenbosch, where we were lucky to have had clear dry weather, and a fantastic tour through our spectacular winelands.

I cannot recommend Mont Marie highly enough. Carmen was a dream to work with, and our almost 50 guests didn’t have a single complaint. The food was excellent, and the service couldn’t be faulted. We will definitely be returning. Those who were not designated drivers had words of high praise for the wine, as well, and the coffee , to finish, was exactly what coffee should be. We were happy to welcome several new members on the run, which always adds to the joy of a run (Allan and Marina Cawood, and Waleed and Rashieda Salie Craig and Mara-Li Massyn, who brought along some friends. We also welcomed some old friends, returning after an extended absence, Raphe and Alison Hermannsen and visiting from the Netherlands, a warm welcome to Albert) If you were not mentioned by name, please forgive me, and know that every one of you is a valued member, and spending time with you is what makes our runs so enjoyable!

The best thing of a Porsche club Sunday lunch is everyone’s stories after the run at the lunch venue, their experiences, the getting together of Porsche enthusiasts is always such a great day to get out and it helps to stretch the legs on your car ever so often. The day ended with everyone having eaten enough and then it was the slow drive back home, yeah right. Come join us sometime on another experience out on the road to a day of fun for the whole family, it is really worth the experience.

We look forward to seeing all of you at our clubhouse or on the next run!
